Damascus steel has a history of about 2000 years. It is a very labour intensive process where by steel is folded repeatedly at forge welding temperature (approx. 1400 deg celsius) to build up hundreds or even thousands of layers and is then sometimes "disrupted" to create all sorts of intriguing patterns. The Vikings and Japanese sword smiths of old perfected these techniques and was used in producing high quality swords and blades...
Damascus steel got its name from the city of Damascus in the Middle East, where a version of this folded steel was being made in the early medieval period. During this time it was being traded with Europeans and since then became known as "Damascus".

ORDERING
A RING
What we need from you...
~ I would need you to get your ring size (preferably an inside diameter in mm) taken by a jeweller using a “wide” ring sizer, not a “narrow” one. Manufacturing jewellers will have wide ring sizers. If they don’t have a wide ring sizer, find a ring of theirs of a similar width to the one you want and ask them to measure the inside diameter.
~ The width you would like. Anywhere between 4 mm to 12 mm wide.
~ The pattern you require, fine, medium or bold feather pattern.
~ Your choice of the sleeve - sterling silver, gold or titanium and whether or not you would like it with wide rails or just the sleeve. We cannot do wide rails with titanium, only a sleeve.
~ We need as much time as possible lead time to make the ring, preferably 6 weeks, so please let me know your wedding date if it is a wedding band.
~ We need your physical address and phone number for the courier.

TITANIUM LININGS
Titanium Linings are standard shiny silver, but can also be heat coloured in shades of bronze, gold, purple, blue, and sky blue.

The sterling silver linings (and other linings such as gold) are all fitted by a professional Jeweller
A NOTE REGARDING SIZING
Damascus is a ferrous steel and unlike nonferrous metals, it cannot be re-sized. The size must be taken with a wide ring sizer and we can make rings in half sizes.
DAMASCUS PATTERN
All rings are made from the same type of pattern - "Feather" - but each pattern is somewhat unique, kind of like a fingerprint. We only use feather pattern for the rings (No twists patterns etc), but you choose the density of the pattern ie: FINE, MEDIUM or BOLD. Please inquire about which pattern will work best for you...
PAYMENT AND ORDERING
Once you have made contact we will correspond with you to finalise the order and make sure we have all the necessary details. You will receive a ring order form and will be quoted according to the options you choose. If you are satisfied with the costing, we can proceed with the order. A 50 % deposit is payable upfront. Once the ring is complete and ready for delivery, the balance can be paid and we will ship the ring to you.
DELIVERY/COURIER
Standard courier is included with any ring order within South Africa. Shipping usually takes a 3 to 5 working days once collected. It may vary depending on exact location. Any outlying areas such as farms, may incure a surcharge which will be at extra cost for the client. Currently we make use of THE COURIER GUY, and they deliver mostly anywhere in South Africa. You are also welcome to organize own courier should you wish
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
We do not include shipping for international orders, this will be quoted separately. For International orders we use DHL.

We wrap each ring extremely carefully, but it is out of our hands once we sign the collection form, We will however do our best to stay informed about the parcels shipment status. We will also receive the tracking number etc.
